Reaching the 500,000 Japanese who are temporarily in the USA and Canada

Prayer Items
   1. Pray for the two RJC Conferences coming the fall:

Southern California RJC, September 12, at Gardena Valley Baptist Church

Midwest RJC Conference, October 9, 10, at Orchard EFC, Arlington Hts, IL. Check out their website at

http://rjcmidwest. wordpress.com/

  2. Berni Marsh, a retired missionary in Shizuoka asks our prayers:

We have a precious little boy in our church very seriously ill.  They have just put him in intensive care.  So chan (second grader) has been running a high fever for almost ten days now and the doctors cannot seem to determine the cause. He's been having trouble breathing and is on oxygen.  We need your prayers !

  3.  Pray for the many who are serving this summer on mini-mission trips:

  Masae shares this:

The VBS will be from 7/21-7/31 in Tokorozawa, and 8/3 - 8/6 in Nokkendai (Kanagawa-ken).
10 of us are going from Lighthouse church this year. Please pray that VBS will be fruitful and many will come to know Jesus!

 I’ve Been Thinking

What is it that keeps us going with RJC? It certainly isn’t the pay. We all are working for no salary, and except for me, most of the leaders are busy with many other good ministries, along with RJC. And it isn’t the organization. We are not incorporated and we don’t make any financial appeals.

What makes RJC so exciting and rewarding? We do see people come to Jesus, but certainly it is not the numbers that we all yearn for.

For me it is first of all the sense that the Lord desires us to carry on with networking, conferences, classes, websites and all.

Secondly, it is that title at the top of this website “Reaching the 500,000 Japanese who are temporarily in the USA and Canada.”  What a day to be alive and serve the King of the Kingdom! Our excitement and motivation is fueled by the opportunities God has given to reach out in love to Japanese who are here, who are more open to the gospel than back home, and who will be going back to Japan to help transform the nation for the King.

If you get excited like I do, there is good news for you. There are many opportunities for you to serve within RJC. Computer people, graphic artists, writers, translators, planners, preachers, teachers, hosts, and you! Let me know if you would like to get involved. donwright@rjcnetwork.org.

Reports

Here is a report and a prayer item that you might have missed. Pastor Michiyuki Kawata of the Kawagoe Baptist Church and director of Friendship golf sent this:

I was so excited about seeing "The Open"(British Open Golf Tournamant). Tom Watson almost made the record of oldest winner. But he missed 5 feet putting for win on 18th hole. He is 59 years old, same age of me! I wished his victory, however, the winner of the play off was Stewart Cink who visited Japan in 2004 to play "Phoenix open" in Miyazaki. Cink shared Jesus with many golfers at that time.  His caddie Frank and his pastor of Atlanta visited Kawagoe church on Sunday, the pastor gave a message for us.  Anyway, Stewart Cink won the Tournament.  We hope he will come again to Japan to share Jesus through golfing.

Ron is excited about groups that came to minister with him:

We had 5 mission groups at our university and shared to about 15 classes averaging 20 to 25 students in the past month. Something is really moving in Japan. Two accepted Jesus in class and so many more showing interest in The Bible and Christianity. Continue your networks.

Ken and Bola Taylor posted this video  of  a 300 member choir, a 12 person Matsuriza Wadaiko drummers, along with Ray Sidney. This took place on June 20th.   http://bmttokyo.multiply.com/video/item/20.

Ministry Resources

Someone recently asked about effective Japanese videos. Here is what I said. What would you say?

As for videos, there are a lot of good ones available. A great website that lists information is <http://christianvideos.org/japanese_videos.html>.

The three videos that I would recommend are:

Jesus.  I assume that you are familiar with this video which has been translated into more languages than any other movie. You can watch it on-line in Japanese at <http://www.jesusfilm.org/film-and-media/watch-the-film>.  You also can order it on-line.

The Hope.  This is a series of chapters that give the hope found in the flow of the Bible. It is based on the English, but the Japanese has been redone nicely with Japanese people doing the narration. You can see it in English at <http://www.christiananswers.net/hope/thehope-full-length.html>. You can see the explanation of the content at <http://www.christiananswers.net/catalog/hope-vs.html>.  I had a little trouble finding how to order the Japanese version on line. You might have to call them.

God's Fingerprints in Japan  This DVD (Actually there are two separate videos) has English and Japanese with a variety of formats—e.g. watching in Japanese with English sub-titles or also the other way) is a great video pointing out that we can see the Creator-God's hand in Japanese culture. It is not teaching that one can be saved outside Christ, but that there are good signs of his work. Often non-Christian Japanese walk away from the video saying that maybe they could be a Christian and still be Japanese. You can watch the video and also order on-line at <http://akaministries.tripod.com/aloha/id2.html>.
