Missionaries Raising Support

  • There are over 2,000 missionaries listed in the JEMA (Japan Evangelical Missionary Association) Directory 2009. In the midst of difficult financial times many of these come back from Japan for deputation and struggle to raise sufficient support in order to return. Newer missionary candidates struggle to raise their initial support to begin their missionary careers.

This page is available for missionaries and missionary candidates to post information that will help us to pray for them, and as the Lord leads, to help support them. Please send information to Don Wright.

Just after I graduated college I had my first exposure to Japanese culture when I went to Tokyo as a missionary to college students from 2006 to 2008. During this time I fell in love with Japanese people and their culture and knew that I would live my life for the cause of the gospel in Japan.

Currently I am in the process of joining the Japan Baptist fellowship in partnership with World Venture; they exist to build reproducing church communities by the transforming gospel of Jesus Christ. I will serve with Innovative Ministries Team involved in developing new methods and programs to reach Japan with the gospel. Their core team in Tokyo, led by Ken Taylor, is seeing amazing things happen through developing communities that are bringing both the church and those outside the church together in ways that are relevant to Japanese culture.

Japan is an amazing country and its people have a rich history and heritage. It is one of my deepest desires not to reach Japan with a western concept of Christianity but to see the truth of the gospel, which transcends cultural boundaries, come alive in the hearts of Japanese and their culture… and for the church in Japan, rooted in biblical truth with a love from the Holy Spirit, to express itself in a way relevant to Japanese culture for the glory of Jesus Christ and Father God in Japan and throughout the rest of world.

Jesus (first) and Japan (second) are my two greatest passions and I am very excited to return to ministry in Japan as soon as my financial support goals are reached.

Asian Access Missionaries.
Boehme

We are Erik and Rhonda Boehme, along with Andrew and Katrina. Our family is returning to Japan with Asian Access by the end of summer 2010. We are excited to start a new partnership with a Japanese church. We both started out teaching English in Japan and then God called us back to Japan to share His Message of hope, love and life with the Japanese people.

During our three years in Miyakonojo we taught English classes, Bible classes, led Adult & Children’s Outreach events, led a Joy of Parenting class and served God by working alongside a visionary Japanese Church. We are thankful for what God did during our term in Miyakonojo.

We are excited about the new opportunities God has for our family in a new location. Since we work in partnership with Japanese leaders we only work with a Church for one to two terms. We look forward to making many new friends while partnering with a church to start a daughter church. We are planning to teach Andrew and Katrina at home, but will still make every effort to be a part of the community where we live. Erik has a passion to see people come to know Christ and their lives be transformed through the work of Christ in their lives. Rhonda loves to see families equipped to share His love with each other, through working with mothers and children. Andrew and Katrina know God’s love in their lives and are learning more of what it means to share His Love with people around them. We love the Japanese people and are looking forward to seeing God work and transform lives, giving HOPE to those who are lonely and hurting.

However, we still have financial needs in order to return in August 2010. We would love to share more with you. Please contact us at erboehme@asianaccess.org To learn more you can also watch this video introduction

We are located near Portland, Oregon in Newberg and will be traveling through California soon and can also visit in Washington. If you and/or your small group would like to hear more and consider partnership with our family, please let us know.

We were introduced to Japan ministry during our studies at Columbia International University’s Seminary & School of Missions. From 2004-2007, we served in a bimonthly evangelistic Bible study for non-Christian Japanese university students. The Lord used this ministry to burden our hearts for the millions of Japanese still waiting to hear and understand the good news. While completing our studies at CIU (Evan- Master of Divinity; Audrey -Biblical Ministry Certificate), we applied and were accepted into OMF International as appointees to Japan. Soon, we hope to move to Sapporo, Japan, as full-time, career missionaries, focused on evangelism, church-planting, and discipleship. We’re also working to mobilize Christian individuals, families, and churches in the U.S., to help them engage their gifts in reaching the Japanese, and to build a network of prayer for Japan.   Email

Jim Tilus

I am a missionary associate with International Student Friendship at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. I graduated from North Central University in 2006 with a degree in Campus Missions/Intercultural Studies. About 3 years ago, God led me to connect with local Japanese Christians to develop focused outreach to Japanese students in Minneapolis. This led to the development of a ministry called Japanese Student Connections.

Our purpose is to develop a family like community between believers and Japanese Students. We seek to practically serve them, build influential friendships and share the gospel. I have been blessed with several committed ministry leaders who have worked to see JSC become a trusted and influential ministry within the local Japanese student community. As the current co-leader of ISF at the University of Minnesota my ministry assignments involve outreach to all international students on campus. However, my personal focus was and will continue to be the development and sustainment of a permanent and powerful witness of Christ to all Japanese students who come to the Twin Cities. Please contact me if you are interested in learning more about supporting this exciting ministry. (Email)

Pioneers International Missionaries Headed to Hiroshima

Peter and Jenny Oh

We are a missionary family appointed by Pioneers International headed to Hiroshima, Japan for long-term missionary service. Our names are Peter and Jenny Oh, and we have a beautiful 2 year old daughter named Juhee and a son due in May.

Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, I am a graduate of Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, and have served in youth ministry for over 12 years, most recently at New Vision Church in Milpitas, CA. I resigned from my youth pastor position on August 31, 2008 in preparation to take my family to serve in Japan. Since then, my family and I have gone on a one-month vision trip to Japan and have been preparing to return by sharing at churches, Christian fellowships and small groups in order to raise prayer and financial partners. By God’s provision (as of Jan 22, 2010) through the partnership with eight churches and nearly 200 individuals and families, 100% of our Departure Fund is raised, and 59% of our Monthly Support is pledged. Since Pioneers will authorize our departure once we have 90% of our Monthly Support pledged, we are continuing to raise support in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.

In Hiroshima, Japan, we will be partnering with Scott and Susan Murray, who are our Pioneers Team Leaders. They have partnered with two local Japanese pastors, and are making preparations to plant a third church together. Once we arrive in Hiroshima, we will join in the effort of planting this third church through inviting those with whom we build relationships. Our strategy in building relationships is through various means including learning Japanese, teaching English, participating in sports activities, starting a pre-school, and living life in Japan as an integrated part of the community. If you would like to find out how to partner with us, please contact us via email. You can also track with us on our blog. Thank you for getting to know us better, and we hope to get to know you better too. You can contact us here. Also here is our website. Blessings!

Arthur and Meg Kraai

arthurmegkraai.jpg  God has broken our heart for the Japanese people, and we are excited to serve Him in Tokyo. Arthur grew up as an MK in Japan, and Meg became burdened for the people of Asia as a college student. We are eager to return to Japan as career missionaries with SEND International. Our passion is to reach young people in Japan with the gospel through evangelism and life-on-life discipleship, serving in partnership with the Japanese church. We hope to be involved in reaching young people as part of a church planting team, as well as partnering with Hi-BA, a Japanese organization that reaches out to high school students with the gospel. Let us know if you are interested in learning more about our burden for Japan or if you would like to join our support team! Contact the Kraais.

Chad and Noriko Snow

Chad & Noriko Snow

  • Hello! We are the Snow family. In May of 2008 we were appointed by The Evangelical Alliance Mission, or TEAM, to go to Japan as missionaries. We are currently in the process of raising support.
  • God has given us a ministry vision that TEAM missionaries and Japanese Christians will become more effective and efficient in establishing reproducing churches in Japan by the support and encouragement provided through our God-given abilities and gifts.
  • We pursue to fulfill our vision in several ways. There is a great need for computer support in Japan. There are about 90 TEAM missionaries in Japan who heavily depend on computers to help them with their ministry. Most of them try to juggle computer related problems with all the other stresses of foreign missions. Chad’s main role will be to support these missionaries from TEAM Japan’s main office in Mitaka city (a suburb of Tokyo). This may require some traveling when problems and needs become too great to support remotely. He will also be responsible for the computer systems in the main office as well as TEAM Japan’s website which is in major need of updating and redesigning in order to attract new candidates for the field.
  • We also would like to be a part of a local church where we can come alongside Japanese believers for encouragement and support. The Lord has entrusted Noriko with the gift of encouragement, which we are praying to be used greatly to benefit both TEAM missionaries and Japanese believers. To learn more about our ministry, please visit our website or email us.

  • We are missionary appointees with SEND International, currently raising support to be missionaries in Japan. We plan to be in Japan long term, as long as God has us there. We are looking for people to send us to Japan by supporting us in prayer and financially. Lord willing we will move to Japan in July of 2011.
  • David initially became interested in Japan through many short term missions trips to Tokyo. During these trips he felt God impressed upon him the great need for more people to be involved in ministry in Japan and felt God calling him to be involved in Church planting. David and Tomo met in Japan while David was working with Tomo’s home church in Tokyo, which was planted by SEND missionaries. Tomo has always desired to serve the church in Japan, and is excited that God has opened the doors for her to work with the same organization that planted her church to help start new churches where they are desperately needed.
  • We are looking for Christians who have a heart to see the people of Japan reached with the hope and love of Christ, who will partner with us to carry out this much needed work which Christ has called us to do.
